Sidebar graphics needed.

OK, so..... We need to decide what we want on the sidebar. We are going to drop the music player and do the mirror thing instead of the slideshow so those will be gone. The navigation links will be beside the mirror so that will no longer be on the side either.

So.. that leaves us with...

1. Trailers and Site news
2. Seasons
3. Staff
4. Awards
5. Top Sites (If you guys even really WANT it there. I don't honestly think anyone uses them but.... Thats up to you all too!)
6. Credits

I dont really think anybody uses the top site either, honestly so I dont think dropping it would be a big deal. XD

I've got a WIP sidebar graphic nearly finished (it goes with the banner) but did you want to do them instead?

Really we need to decide on the font before any of them can get finished, and since you dont like the MAEL font, we should keep looking.

No, I figured you'd do them... but before you made up a whole bunch..... I thought we should decide what is really needed. Wouldn't make much sense to do them all only to not use them, ya kow?

LOL Are you going to work on that or do you want someone else to take a shot at it? Doesn't really matter to me. I'm going to be adjusting our colors to fit the new layout because.. right now, the species colors would be really BRIGHT against this layout and I want to tone them down a bit to make it more subtle to go with the flow

And I can take a crack at it. I've already got a bunch of pretty stock mirrors for another graphic I had done Its just such a cute idea Rissa. It makes me want to noogie that brain of yours

I'm not sure what all you're working on Chyna but if you've got test stuff to put up let me know and I can put them in the code.

Also for the mirror. I was going to mess around with one just for testing to see what it will look like with the navigation links next to it.

We are using one on the SU 2 site:

Those are just test versions that we made. We haven't put it all together but you get the idea of what Rissa was talking about.


Of course... the one for here will be NOTHING like that. It will totally be some kind of fancy fantasy looking thing, like the whole fairytale idea.

OK, just going to list the navigation link graphics here. I saved all the PSD files so we can change them around if needed but I wanted to play and see where it left us.








These are in blue and with the Mael font....

Jo...could you plug in this sidebar tester for me?

It is 255 px wide and 189 px tall, if you need the dimensions and I would prefer it not have a border, or the plain cranberry color showing on the top, bottom, or sides.

First off... I really love the side table graphic. I love that pattern. If you have that pattern and you can send it to me we could put the pattern on where the test header is right now and I think that would look really sharp. Or you could make a header graphic with the pattern. That is 700 px by 30 px at the moment but read the notes below.

I plugged in the graphic.... if you want the sidetable to be 255 px then some other things are going to have to change. Here are the options:

1. The over all width of the border around forum is going to have to change, making the WHOLE forum wider and it is already set at 1000 px wide.

2. The width of the main forum table will have to be smaller, which also means the banner and all the category titles and headers/base images will have to be made less wide.

3. I can push the sidetable over so that it is right next to the main forum so that it is butted right up against it. There will be no space at all between the side table and the main forum table and probably not a lot of the black border space around the outside of everything.

4. Side table graphic made to 225 px wide or smaller.

It took me freaking forever to get the scrolly part right but it was missing something. I added some stripes and VIOLA! It was exactly what I was looking for. <3

I think your idea about using it in the header graphic might be what I end up doing. I want to see what Rissa thinks first though, before I make it. As well as that sidebar image, all of them will have that pattern with different crows...or some will have the crows and some will have just kinda' black feathers in them. Not sure, will have to finish them out to see if its too many lifelike crows.

And, hrm....I don't want you to have to change all that so I'll just make the side table graphic smaller. What size do you suggest?

OH!OH!OH!

One more thing. Rissa and I decided where you have the test cat. graphic we just want a thin stripe of that mauve color (the one your using for it now) like...a pinstripe. Does that make sense?

Chyna you there....? I put up the graphics using option 3 right now.... everything pushed against the main table.

If you can look to see what it looks like.


However, I do think that I can put a few pixels of space between the sidetable and the main forum now with out messing anything up. So that is another option.

Ok... for the thing that says test category graphic that is going to have to have the category name on it.

Soooo... either we us a font that matches the rest of the titles (which means we'd have to make a graphic out of it) OR we just use the regular standard font/text from proboards.

I'll put up a couple examples.

And I'm not sure what you mean by pinstripe. Did you want to put stripes on it? or did you just mean a thin strip of the mauve color?

Okay, so, I dont like the graphics right up against the main table, and like I said I dont want to change the width of the forum. So...I guess it depends on if you can put some space between them or not, OR I dont mind shrinking them a little if need be.

On the category/header name thinger... We just want ONE graphic -- like we have in place now at the 'real realm' that has the name of the forums, or categories, whatever. LOL
And I am planning on making these with the matching fonts. *nod nod*

As far as the pinstripe, just one thin stripe instead of the graphic you have in place that says 'test category graphic'
